Who’s Going to Microsoft Convergence 2014?

In the tradition of Waldo, the Dynamics CRM MVP’s love traveling the world and hanging out with the community.  One of our favorite spots to travel to each year is Microsoft Convergence.  The two primary reasons are because Microsoft Convergence is all about product and community and we are passionate about both.  We love working in the product and we love sharing our knowledge with you, our community.  That means we Love Microsoft Convergence!!

If you’ve attended Convergence then you know it is a big place with lots of sessions, places to hang out, things to do, and people to see.  Several of the MVP’s are planning to attend and we thought you might like to know where you can find us.  To help with that, below is a a table with our schedule.  The table doesn’t include all of the MVP’s who will be in attendance so I’ve no doubt you will bump into others throughout the week.

If you see us, stop and say hi.  We’d love to chat with you and catch up with old friends.  Have a great Convergence everyone and we look forward to seeing you in Atlanta!

Safe travels all!

Are Visions of Microsoft Convergence 2013 Dancing in your Head?

In less than a week a whole crew of Microsoft Dynamics folks are heading to the great city of New Orleans to spend a week with some of our most favorite peeps; our peers, Dynamics guru’s, Microsoft Dynamics Product Team, Dynamics Community, our customers, clients and everyone Microsoft Dynamics.  I hope you enjoy this little tale to get you in the mood.

Twas the week before Convergence, when all through the land,
Everyone was stirring, in anticipation of the plan.
The session presentations were filed with care,
In hopes that the flights would get them there.
Each day, as presenters worked to prepare,
Their excitement and wonder brought magic to the air.
With Attendees in wait, and the Product Team in lead,
The excitement grew like a weed.
When out on the Internet there arose such a clatter,
We sprang to our desks to see what was the matter.
Away to the mouse we flew like a flash,
Fired up the browser and cleared the cache.
To the top of the page, to the top of the site,
Now hurry along! Hurry along! Soar like a kite!
The page on the site was incredible to behold,
It truly was like discovering gold.
Then what to my wondering eyes should appear,
An amazing agenda akin to a world premiere.
With a little click, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment my schedule was slick.
More rapid than eagles the information it came,
As I ran through the site to uncover the flame!
"With keynotes, sessions, discussions and deep dives,
With labs, networking, and expos it thrives!
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky.
So all through the site my eyes they flew,
As I learned in amazement all that would be new.
And then, in a twinkling, I saw on the page,
The expo, the parties so much more than I could gauge.
As I drew in my head, and my fervor grew strong,
Through the site I went all the day long.
I was amazed, I was thrilled,
And in the end fulfilled.
With my mind now at ease, I’m well underway,
I will sit and wait to embark on the day.
Now freeing the mouse from my fingers I rise,
And go to my room to bask in the prize!
But before I lie down, I shall incite,
Get your tickets today, build your schedule out right.
"Happy Convergence to all, and to all a good-night!"

CRM Outlook Client 2011– See How Smart I AM

One of the great improvements in the CRM Outlook Client is the ability to configure multiple Organizations.  Here is a quick walkthrough:

Select Start, All Programs, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, Configuration Wizard

image

select the Add button from the right navigation window

outlook wizard 1

Enter the new server URL that you would like to add and select Test Connection.  Enter your server URL and credentials.  I am using a CRM Online server URL for this example so I entered the CRM Online server URL and my Live ID login and password.

outlook wizard2

Select Ok and the Organization Name will populated.  Give the Organization a new Display name that will help you understand which CRM Organization it is and select the Synchronize with this Organization if you want the CRM Outlook Client to use this Organization as the one to synchronize CRM Outlook related data (e-mail, tasks, appointments, Contacts, etc.).  If no, leave the box unchecked and select Ok and Close.

At this point, the CRM Outlook Client will Initialize the new Organization and you will see the new Organization listed in your left navigation menu folders when you start Outlook.

Cheers!

XRM Virtual User Group

Do you like learning more about extending the Dynamics CRM application?  If so, then check out the XRM Virtual User Group.  The group was started by Dynamics CRM MVP Julie Yack and is a forum where professionals can exchange knowledge and information.  Here is an excerpt from the site:

The XRM User Group is for the professional XRM developer community. User groups have been around for a long time, professionals helping professionals. Why? If we keep spreading the new technology, then we get more new technology. If we keep educationing our peers, our work standards continue to rise and then we go back to that new technology thing. If we don’t innovate, things get boring. So, that’s why we’re here. Glad you’re here too.The XRM User Group is for the professional XRM developer community.
